The Graettinger-Terril Community School Board held a special meeting on June 6, 2011 at the Graettinger Building in the library. President Norris called the meeting to order at 4:30pm. Other board members in attendance included Kevin Jensen, Duane Hoffman, Galen Chicoine and Roger Schmitt. Larry Flaharty and Jim Eldridge were absent. Administration in attendance was: Superintendent Collins and Secretary Chapman. Guest(s) included: Ron Speckman, Gary Edwards and Cody Alesch.
OLD BUILDING DEMOLITION PROJECT
A review of bids was discussed. Ron Speckman, FEH Architect, spoke with the low bidder to confirm his bid and his certainty of inclusions. Other discussion centered on plans for future buildings. Options include to construct a gym/weight/wrestling room with a phase process. Estimates for an EPS Building were discussed for this purpose. Fire codes, standards and requirements were detailed. An additional option would be to erect a stand-alone weight/wrestling building. Cody Alesch reviewed the plans and costs for that building. The Buildings and Grounds Committee also distributed a ten (10) year plan for spending capital project dollars. Following discussion, Schmitt moved to approve the low bid for demolition of the Graettinger Old Building from Boyer Sand & Rock for $167,900. Motion carried.
Ron Speckman exited 5:48pm.
BUILDINGS & GROUNDS
Hoffman moved to approve the replacement of a door leading into the kitchen in the Graettinger Building. Quote from Northwest Glass was $2,119. Motion carried.
Schmitt moved to approve the purchase of two (2) 50-gallon water heaters for the Terril Building. If the district purchases water heaters at 50 gallons and below, they are not required to have them inspected annually. Cost for the two water heaters will be $2,275 installed. Motion carried.
PERSONNEL
Chicoine moved to approve Marlana Tewes as the new Spanish teacher and some At-Risk duties and Carol Fisher as Family and Consumer Science. Motion carried.
Chicoine moved to approve the resignations of Kristen Boe and Emily Schultz as teacher aides for the FY12 year. Motion carried.
