Special Board Meeting
All votes are unanimous unless otherwise noted.
The Graettinger-Terril Community School Board met on February 8, 2013 in the Board Room in Graettinger with President Norris calling the meeting to order at 7:03 a.m. Other members in attendance included Roger Schmitt, Kevin Jensen, and Galen Chicoine. Absent was Mat Hanson. Administration in attendance were: Superintendent Jesse Ulrich, Principal Teresa Alesch, and Board Secretary Heidi Skattebo. Guest(s) included: Rod Hough, Athletic Director, and Dan Voigt, Emmetsburg Democrat.
Schmitt moved to adopt the agenda proposing Part-Day Sharing Proposal with Ruthven-Ayrshire CSD. Seconded by Chicoine. Motion carried.
Ulrich provided the Board with the financial estimates on what would work for our district. Alesch provided the Board with course offerings and scheduling possibilities. Ulrich explained the positives for our district which included utilizing our FCS and Ag teachers that we already share with Ruthven-Ayrshire as well as adding Industrial Arts to our course offerings. Ulrich explained that there is a grant that we can apply for to use for buying new shop equipment or there is a possibility of using some of Ruthven’s equipment if an agreement was made. Ulrich explained the financials and the different options to consider for a proposal. Board members discussed the information; weighing pros and cons as well as considering what would be the best for our students. The Board directed Mr. Ulrich to propose a 2 year agreement with a 3rd year as an option to review how things were going for both districts.
