7 GTRA members attended Iowa FFA’s 37th Legislative Symposium. They started their day at the Embassy Suites in downtown Des Moines where they heard from Governor Reynolds and watched her sign the FFA Week Proclamation. They also heard from Mike Naig, Iowa Secretary of Agriculture; Elizabeth Burns-Thompson, Vice President and Government and Public Affairs at Navigation CO2 Ventures; and Brent Johnson, Iowa Farm Bureau Federation President. They then visited the Iowa Capitol where they met with State Representative Megan Jones. These members were able to learn more about policy in relation to agriculture, make significant connections, and visit an important landmark in Iowa.
