Intro to Ag students had an exciting visit from Kaitlin at the Lost Island Nature Center!
Students learned about bioaccumulation and the creatures affected by it. They even had a chance to hold a few of the animals!

This team of junior students are making a documentary for their National History Day project! Here they are recording their voice overs to dub into their video. Students will work hard for two full months to prove their argument for district contest in Storm Lake in early March.

7 GTRA members attended Iowa FFA’s 37th Legislative Symposium.
They started their day at the Embassy Suites in downtown Des Moines where they heard from Governor Reynolds and watched her sign the FFA Week Proclamation. They also heard from Mike Naig, Iowa Secretary of Agriculture; Elizabeth Burns-Thompson, Vice President and Government and Public Affairs at Navigation CO2 Ventures; and Brent Johnson, Iowa Farm Bureau Federation President.
They then visited the Iowa Capitol where they met with State Representative Megan Jones.
These members were able to learn more about policy in relation to agriculture, make significant connections, and visit an important landmark in Iowa.




JV Girls BB @ Newell-Fonda tonight (2/1) is CANCELLED. JV Boys will start @ 5:00 PM followed by the Varsity Games at 6:00 PM.

The Textiles and Advanced Sewing students are learning about weave types. This week we tried our hand at plain and hopsack weaves.

This year's seniors have chosen Climate Change as one of the major "modern problems" they see in the world today, so in Modern Problems we have studied its effects and as part of their end of the unit assessment- they are again starting up the recycling program at school.

Follow-up activity to a globalization assignment where students had to map out where a variety of their possessions are from

MS/HS will run Schedule B Wednesday AM: Periods 3/4 (Skip 1/2)
GTRA will be 2 Hours Late Wednesday 1/26 due to low windchill. School will dismiss at 2:30 as scheduled.

Varsity Wrestling start time tonight (1/25) at Manson has been moved up to 5:30 PM.

JV BB Games with St. Mary's tonight (1/25) have been cancelled. Varsity Girls and Boys will play at St. Mary's starting at 6:00 PM as scheduled.

JV Basketball Games with West Bend-Mallard tonight (1/21) are cancelled. Varsity Teams will play as scheduled @ 6:00 PM.

The FCS program was fortunate to receive new blenders/food processors. The students spent a couple days reading, researching and preparing for their use. On Thursday they were successful at making frozen drinks!


Biology students applied the concept of surface-area-to-volume ratio to the ability of cells to maintain homeostasis. Pictured are lab groups working with model "cells" made of agar.
