As the Coach to the GTRA Lady Titans Track Team (Chris Myers) and a proud member of Titan Nation, I wish to make the following known:
Last Thursday at the District Track meet, the GTRA Lady Titan Track Team had a record setting night! First of all, the team scored 60 points! That is more than any GTRA Lady's Track Team has scored at any track meet by 7 points, let alone at State Qualifying. Numerous athletes played a role in this endeavor. We received points from Kendall Umsheid in the 100 M Hurdles, Madisen Fay in the 800 M (with her fastest time ever by 6 seconds), Gabby Conlon in the 800 M and 400 M, Macy Alderson in the 200 M, Myla Murphy in the 100 M, 200 M and 400 M, as well as Drea McKean-Riparetti in the High Jump and Macy Alderson, Drea McKean-Riparetti, Lilly Thompson and Myla Murphy in the 4 X 200 M relay.
Out of these efforts, we qualified 5 events for the State Track Meet with all 5 having an excellent chance at getting a medal! This total number of events qualifying is a GTRA record as well! We qualified the 4X200 as stated above with alternates being Natalie Swedin and Kendall Umsheid. Myla Murphy qualified in the 100 M, 200 M, 400 M as well as Drea McKean-Riparetti in the High Jump. Their work to place and medal at State begins on Thursday morning this week and continues through Saturday. I am extremely proud to coach these young athletes! They are some of the hardest working athletes I have ever had a chance to coach.

Blake Borchers and Kylie Ness had the honor of being selected to participate in the Iowa FFA State Band. They practiced as a group during convention and played in the 2nd and 4th Sessions.

As the Governor’s Scholar, Karima attended the Governor’s Scholar Ceremony in Des Moines. After being selected, Karima was asked to invite a teacher of her choice to the ceremony. Middle School Track at Emmetsburg this afternoon (5/2) has been cancelled due to the weather conditions!
Due to weather considerations, the Twin Lakes Conference Golf Tournament scheduled for tomorrow (5/2) has been postponed to Wednesday.
Unified Science students are designing, evaluating, and refining water filter systems. Each group is acting as a company and was given a "budget" for their build. They also have the ability to resell any recovered materials from the filtered water to profit from their design.
GT 11 grade US History class visited ILCC for the short film "The Algona Brownies." The Brownies baseball team was formed w/players of color in 1901 by white Algona businessmen. The film explores the ramifications of the team during an era of legalized racial oppression&violence.
HS Golf today (4/25) at Sioux Rapids (Sioux Central) is postponed to Tuesday, April 26.
Middle School Track Today (4/25) at Armstrong has been cancelled!
Anatomy & Physiology students traveled back to SDSU to visit the cadaver lab for the second time this year. They learned even more about the human body in an irirreplicable lab experience!
